Fleas

Let me tell you a true story about fleas. Fleas can jump horizontally 13 inches and vertically 7 inches. If fleas were the size of a 6 foot tall man, they would proportionally jump 480 feet vertically – or about 1 1/3 football fields straight up! However, if a trainer puts a transparent covering over a box of fleas, a curious thing happens. At first, the fleas will jump and bang their heads on the invisible barrier. After awhile, even the boldest fleas will limit their jumps to the height of the barrier to avoid the pain. The trainer can then remove the barrier and the fleas will remain trapped in a cage of their own making that exists solely in their minds. One can imagine a bold, young flea getting ready to make that big leap out of the box being discouraged by his neighbors telling him that fleas just can’t escape the box.

We all look at reality through the lens of our perceptions. Do any of the following resonate with you? “You will always have a car payment.” “The little man just can’t get ahead.” “The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.” If you have any of those, I would like to challenge those paradigms. In fact, I will make some bold statements for you:

“You can live debt free.”

You can own your home mortgage free.

You can be a millionaire by steady investment of your income by adopting habits of rich people and leaving behind the habits of poor people.

You can transition from working for your money to your money working for you.
